Perfect Shances is first winner for graded stakes winner Shancelot

Shancelot was represented by his first winner on April 11 at Keeneland when his first starter Perfect Shances rolled to a 4 ¾-length victory in a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight affair for 2-year-old fillies.

Perfect Shances was on the lead right from the break and had a one-length advantage after a quarter-mile. She turned for home with a full head of steam and widened her margin through the stretch to win very impressively in :52.86 over a sloppy and sealed racetrack. The winner is trained by Wesley Ward and is owned by her breeder Crawford Farms Racing. Perfect Shances is the first foal out of the unraced Bayern mare American Baby, who is a full sister to stakes winner Sweet Harmony.

Shancelot, a son of Shanghai Bobby, began stud duties in 2021 following a very successful 3-year-old campaign that included a win in Saratoga’s Amsterdam S. (G3) that was less than a half-second off the track record. That year he also was second in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) to champion Mitole and second to Omaha Beach in the Santa Anita Sprint Championship S. (G1).

Shancelot stands this year at Buck Pond Farm for $5,000 live foal.
